A recorder/reproducer comprising a dubbing request receiving section for receiving a dubbing request of information recorded on a recording medium to a storage section, an idle time band detecting section for detecting at least one idle time band for which storage of a broadcast video signal in the storage section is not reserved in response to the dubbing request, an assigning section for assigning reproduced information from a reproducing section to at least one idle time band and dubbing it to the storage section, and a controller for reproducing the recorded information by driving the reproducing section to at least one idle time band based on the dubbing assignment and dubbing the recorded information thus reproduced to the storage section.
