PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent exposure to water inside an electric motor at the time of submergence while enabling ventilation of the electric motor, in a plunger type pump device provided with a pump which has a plunger reciprocating in an eccentric cam part arranged in a pump drive shaft and is arranged in a body and with the electric motor mounted to the body to rotate the pump drive shaft. SOLUTION: A reserve chamber 33 communicated with an air passage 34 of the electric motor 11 is formed between a motor case 20 of the electric motor 11 and the body 13 in which an outer opening end of a drain port 59A leading to the reserve chamber 33 is arranged downward. Volume of the reserve chamber 33 below the air passage 34 is set larger than a sum of cooling contraction amount of air inside the electric motor 11 and the reserve chamber 33 contracted in accordance with cooling by submergence from a warmed state in an operating environment and pressurized compression amount of the air inside the electric motor 11 and the reserve chamber 33 contracted by water pressure applied from the drain port 59A at the time of submergence.
