PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processor which can reduce power consumption while provided with a plurality of data processing parts for dealing with respective corresponding recording media. SOLUTION: When started, a video recorder (data processor) provided with a plurality of drive parts (data processing parts) of a HD drive part 17, a BD drive part 18, and a DVD drive part 19 starts the drive part that has accepted the recording medium such as an optical disk, among from the plurality of drive parts. As another method, the drive part to be started when starting the video recorder is selected to reduce the power consumption of the video recorder, by starting the drive part designated by a user, by starting the drive part having high use frequency, or the like.
