<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film which is laminated with a quarter-wave plate, a linearly polarized light separating plate, and a linearly polarized light plate in this order and in which the utilization efficiency of light is good and the hue of transmitted light can be approximated to neutral. <P>SOLUTION: The optical film is laminated with the quarter-wave plate, the linearly polarized light separating plate, and the linearly polarized light plate in this order. When a direction where an intra-surface refractive index becomes maximum is defined as an X-axis, the direction perpendicular to the X-axis as a Y-axis, the thickness direction of the film as a Z-axis, the refractive indices in the respective axis directions as nx, ny, nz, and the film thickness as (d) (nm), the front phase difference (Δndd) at the wavelength 550 : (nx-ny)xd are 70 to 95 nm, and when the front phase difference (Δnd) at the wavelengths 400 nm, 550 nm, 700 nm are respectively defined as λ(400), λ(550), λ(700), the quarter-wave plate satisfies λ(400)/λ(550)>1.1, λ(700)/λ(550)<1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
