<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying mechanism for storage shelves capable of being continuously operated at all times and a method of controlling the carrying mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: An instruction of access is given to cells 14 divided in storage shelves 13a and 13b, the carrying mechanism drives a first self-propelling carrier 19 based on a power source installed in the first self-propelling carrier 19. In this case, when a trouble is detected in the first self-propelling carrier 19, the carrying mechanism drives the first self-propelling carrier 19 based on the operation of a second self-propelling carrier 21. By this method of control, even if a trouble generates in the first self-propelling carrier 19, the self-propelling carrier 19 can be driven based on the operation of the second self-propelling carrier 21. For example, the first self-propelling carrier 19 can be escaped from the movable range of the second self-propelling carrier 21. Thus, the movable range of the second self-propelling carrier 21 can be secured, the second self-propelling carrier 21 can be continuously operated, and the carrying mechanism 18 for storage shelves can be continuously operated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
