PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system capable of properly providing services and information independently of a drive speed of a vehicle and to provide an information providing apparatus used therefor, and a communication apparatus. SOLUTION: The communication apparatus 10 includes: a speed information acquisition section 14 for acquiring its own speed information; a wireless communication section 12 for transmitting the acquired speed information to the information providing apparatus 20; an authentication processing section 15 for receiving an authentication method transmitted from the information providing apparatus 20; and authentication processing sections 15, 16 for receiving the authentication method transmitted from the information providing apparatus 20 and executing the authentication with the information providing apparatus 20 by the received authentication method, and the information providing apparatus 20 includes: an authentication method determining section 23 for receiving the speed information from the communication apparatus 10 and determining the authentication method in response to the received speed information; and authentication processing sections 24, 25 for transmitting the determined authentication method to the communication apparatus 10 and executing the authentication with the communication apparatus 10 by the determined authentication method. Thus, the communication apparatus 10 can execute proper authentication with the information providing apparatus 20 by the authentication method in response to the mobile speed of the communication apparatus 10.
