The mechanism for emptying a silo comprises a C-profile beam (51) in which an endless screw (28) is mounted. This rotates about a central axis to empty the central section of the silo. It is then connected to a similar, radially outer section (52) so that the remainder of the material is removed from the silo. An Independent claim is included for a method for emptying a silo using the mechanism.
