<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator which can configure a nonaqueous electrolyte battery excellent in safety when performing abnormal heating while the deterioration of energy density is suppressed as much as possible and to provide a method of manufacturing that and the nonaqueous electrolyte battery having the separator. <P>SOLUTION: In the separator including a porous membrane of fiber-like article which does not change substantially at 150°C, or an ionic permeable porous film, in a constituting element, the temperature which becomes triple or more as large as the value in a room temperature of air permeability expressed with Gurley values is a temperature span of 80 to 130°C. The above separator is desirable to contain organic particulate whose melting point is 80-130°C.
