<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-value QAM symbol timing detection circuit capable of surely detecting a symbol timing of a multi-value QAM signal. <P>SOLUTION: When receiving an over-sampling I signal, an I signal histogram forming section 610 applies absolute value arithmetic operations to the signal and buffers the calculated signal by one symbol length. The I signal histogram forming section 610 extracts a sampling timing in response to an over-sampling frequency and amplitude data in this timing from the buffered data, generates a histogram of the amplitude data in each sampling timing from the buffered amplitude data, detects the sampling timing corresponding to the amplitude data whose frequency of incidence is highest from the histogram of the amplitude data to acquire the symbol timing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
