PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil adsorbent for oil-water separation which suitably adsorbs even a low-viscous oil and efficiently separates and recovers oil from water. SOLUTION: The oil adsorbent for oil-water separation is made by coating a granular carbide with a water-repellent resin, such as a silicone resin, dissolved by a solvent. The carbide can be obtained by burning a dense combustible material, such as a phenol resin.
