<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double-side emission type organic EL element by realizing the organic EL which can eliminate influence of interference on it so as to improve light extraction efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The organic EL device has such a structure that a first transparent electrode layer (anode), hole transportation layer, organic emission layer, second transparent electrode layer (cathode), and second transparent buffer region are arranged in order on a first transparent buffer region, and can extract light from two sides, that is, from the first transparent buffer region side and the second transparent buffer region side. The refractive index level difference in the border plane which exists within a range of less than a coherent distance Lc calculated from the PL spectrum of the light emitted from the emission interface from the emission interface of the organic emission layer is set to about 0.6 or less. The coherent distance Lc is calculated by a formula Lc=λ<SP>2</SP>/Δλ, whereλis the central wavelength of the PL spectrum andΔλis the spectrum half-value width. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
