<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an online shopping system that facilitates the selection of commodities. <P>SOLUTION: The online shopping system forms a top page for use in selecting the commodities, which is transmitted to a client terminal of a customer via a network, by means of: partitioning a screen into a plurality of areas; arranging a table of contents of sites in a first area; arranging information related to the business person in charge of a member specified by authentication information in a second area; arranging a message from a sales person to the customer in a third area; presenting an image of a commodity that is recommended by the sales person to the customer in a fourth area; and further arranging information related to consumables of equipment owned by the customer.
