The invention relates to a multimedia appliance comprising a housing (1) containing a CD drive (22) provided with a loading device (2) that is driven by an electric motor, the loading motor (3), in order to close and open a draw (4) for receiving a CD (5) or to insert or withdraw a CD (5) through a slot in the housing (1), the so-called CD slot (6). Said CD slot (6) can be closed and opened up by means of a front screen (7) which is fixed to the housing (1) in a mobile manner. According to the invention, in order to close and open up the CD slot (6) by means of the front screen (7), a drive connection (8) which is mechanically or magnetically driven by the loading motor (3) is provided for the front screen (7). The invention also relates to a corresponding CD drive with a front screen displacing coupling mechanism.
