PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device and a head-mounted display device which are provided with an optical device which has the adhesive strength between a hologram photosensitive material 24a and a transparent base material 22 enhanced without requiring special processing and considers the safety of devices. SOLUTION: When an optical element 24 comprising a hologram is stuck onto the transparent base material 22 to constitute the optical device, both the optical element 24 and the transparent base material 22 are made of acrylic materials. Especially, when the optical element 24 is held between transparent base materials 22 and 23 to manufacture an eyepiece optical system 21 as the optical device, the optical element 24, the transparent base materials 22 and 23, and an adhesive for causing the transparent base materials 22 and 23 to adhere to each other are all made of acrylic materials. Since the eyepiece optical system 21 is made of homogeneous materials being the acrylic materials, the adhesive strength can be enhanced without special processing. Since the transparent base materials 22 and 23 are made of acrylic materials, they can more surely absorb impacts and external pressures than those made of glass. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
