PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide film stretching equipment capable of obtaining a film in which the orientation axis is highly accurately oriented and which has high thickness accuracy, and a film stretching method. SOLUTION: The film stretching equipment is equipped with a heating oven, a film delivery part, a plurality of pairs of clips in the right and left which grip both the ends of the width direction of the film continuously sent from this delivery part, guide rails of one pair each in the right and left which guide the travel of each clip, and a plurality of driving shafts which move the guide rails, and, while passing through the film in the heating oven, can stretch the film gripped by the clips. In the equipment the rail patterns of the guide rails are changeable because the plurality of driving shafts are formed almost in parallel and the guide rails of one pair each in the right and left move independently of the right and left.
