PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection display device for a vehicle and a method enhancing freedom regarding a projection position of information even while preventing deterioration of visibility by an external light and ensuring a wide visual recognition range. SOLUTION: The projection display device 1 for the vehicle reflects an incident light and leads it to an eye point side of an occupant of the vehicle. In the projection display device 1 for the vehicle, a diffusion plate 40 for diffusing/reflecting a light is provided on a route until the incident light finally arrives at the eye point side via a reflection plate 30. Further, a hood 50 for not making the external light incident is provided on the diffusion plate 40 and the reflection plate 30 is installed such that it does not lead the external light to the eye point side.
