An assembly system for exhibition stands and similar temporary structures has wedge shaped interlocking grips (10) for a rapid and secure assembly. The grips are secured to the respective components via threaded fasteners (12, 13, 14) and the locking profiles include end stops (15). The wedge profiles can be enhanced by dovetail profiles. The structures are assembled by simply locking the components together.
