A current supply rail for supplying electric energy to rail vehicles consists of at least one current rail (2) and a support rail (1). The current rail (2) is fabricated as an electrically conductive strip; the metal strip forming the current rail (2) is fixed directly on the support rail (1). An independent claim is included for a method for mounting a current rail on a support rail.
