The device (1) has half clamps (3, 4) with the half clamp (3) mounted on a plate (2). The half clamps surround a cylindrical body of a catalyst to be fixed. Ends of the corresponding half clamps (3, 4) have pre-assembling units (10a, 10b) adapted to maintain the half clamps together before fixing the half clamps by fixation orifices (11a, 11b) on the catalyst without exerting locking force. An independent claim is also included for a utilization of a fixation device for fixing a catalyst on a crankcase.
