The method involves establishing a connection between transmitting and receiving routing equipments and compressing routing information to be transmitted. Identification information is added in the compressed information and the compressed information is transmitted by the transmitting equipment to the receiving equipment. The compressed information is received, identified and decompressed by the receiving equipment. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a routing information transmitting system (B) a program for routing equipment and having code portions adapted for executing establishment of connection with another routing equipment, for compressing routing information and for transmitting the compressed information (C) a program for routing equipment and having code portions adapted for executing reception, identification and decompression of the compressed routing information.
