FIELD: transport engineering. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to protect from corrosion surfaces of fenders and body forming wheel arch. Proposed device is combination of two members: cover plate protecting parts of flanging most liable to chipping and following corrosion - its ribs (inner and outer), and outer plane pointed to mud flow and protecting from stones, water and salt solutions, etc, and sub-fenders which protect inner surfaces of fender and/or body. According to one design version, said members are installed without relative fastening at which rigid connection of sub-fender with flanging or cover plate is not required and clearance is left between said members over perimeter of flanging which does not affect protecting properties of device. According to other design version, said members are provided with relative fastening owing to seats made in cover plate and/or sub-fender and/or flanging, and/or by means of third element which is catch. Invention provides protection against direct action of mud flow, increased service life of metal parts of car body, increased operating properties owing to long-time additional protection of flanging of fender and/or body, practically over entire service life of car, reduced labor input at making and mounting of wheel arch protective members, facilitated process of repair, particularly, replacement of cover plates and restoration of protective coatings. ^ EFFECT: increased service life of car bodies. ^ 58 cl, 27 dwg |
