PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera which enables framing to be easily performed even when the entire object is in a dark photographing scene and consumes low power. SOLUTION: A plurality of LEDs 12 are disposed on the front face of the digital camera 2. A release button 15 which is put in a half-pressed position and a fully-pressed position, is disposed on the top face of the camera. When the release button 15 is half-pressed, pre-emission of light is carried out in which light is intermittently emitted by each LED 12 and the object is illuminated with the small amount of light. This makes it possible to easily conduct framing while viewing an image through a display on a liquid crystal panel even in the case where the entire object is in a dark photographing scene. In addition, the density of the pulse of a drive current applied to each LED 12 is made low to make the amount of light low. Consequently, power consumption can also be reduced.
