PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively constrain the waist (pelvis) of an occupant by forming a fine corner on the occupant side of an airbag. SOLUTION: This waist constraining device 1 limits the forward movement of the occupant M by constraining the waist part P of the occupant M seated on a seat cushion of a vehicle in case of emergency. The device includes: an airbag 13 stored in the interior of the seat cushion 2; and an inflator 14 for generating gas for inflating and expanding the airbag 13 and supplying the same to the air bag 13. The main bag part of the airbag 13 is formed of woven fabric. A mesh-like sheet 15 formed of metal material is disposed on the upside of the airbag 13 to cover the upper part of the inflated and expanded bag part when this bag part is inflated and expanded. Accordingly, when the airbag is inflated and expanded, the upper part of the airbag is covered with the comparatively hard seat to form a fine corner on the occupant side of the airbag, whereby even if a large-sized gas generating and supplying device is not installed, the waist part can be effectively constrained by the fine corner to prevent submarine state.
