<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact detector of excellent economical efficiency while enhancing accuracy in detecting contact with other objects. <P>SOLUTION: This contact detector X is provided with a protector P at an automatic opening/closing body, wherein the protector P is provided with a support member 40 capable of supporting a sensor for detecting contact with the other objects, and a base end member 30 formed integrally with the support member 40. The rigidity of the support member 40 is set lower than the rigidity of the base end member 30, and the sensor supported by the support member 40 is formed as a piezoelectric sensor 1 capable of detecting the other objects by deflection.
