PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the construction of a lock-up device in a torque converter with the lock-up device having a torsion spring whose outer peripheral edge is located on the inner periphery side of the inner peripheral edge of a fluid operation chamber. SOLUTION: The torque converter 1 comprises the torsion spring 52 whose outer peripheral edge is located on the inner periphery side of the inner peripheral edge of the fluid operation chamber 3. The lock-up device 4 has a piston 41 connectable to a front cover 21, the torsion spring 52, a driving member 50 fixed to the piston for driving the torsion spring 52, and a driven member 51 fixed to a turbine shell 20 so as to be driven by the torsion spring 52.
