摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device for a carriage capable of preventing tooth skipping phenomenon of a timing belt, even when a shock greater than expected is received during transportation or the like, letting alone the time of operation of the carriage, and an image reading device equipped with the driving device for a carriage, as well as an image forming device. SOLUTION: In the driving device for a carriage which is provided with a carriage mounted with an image sensor for reading images, a timing belt 5 for moving the carriage connected to the carriage, and with a driving pulley 6 and a driven pulley bridging the timing belt 5 therebetween with its tension applied thereon, a tooth skip preventing member 8 having a curved surface wall arranged at a prescribed interval with respect to the tooth tip surface of the driving pulley 6 is arranged outside of the outer peripheral surface of a meshing section between the driving pulley 6 and the timing belt 5, and the timing belt 5 is restrained with the curbed surface wall of the tooth skip preventing member 8 which is arranged at a prescribed interval with respect to the tooth tip surface of the driving pulley 6, thereby the tooth of the timing belt 5 is prevented from falling off from between the teeth of the driving pulley 6 facing the tooth of the timing belt.
