PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simultaneous biaxial stretching machine capable of independently varying the stretching ratio in the TD (transverse) direction and MD (longitudinal) direction of a sheetlike article. SOLUTION: A pair of traveling rails 10 are provided on both sides of the sheetlike article 1 and a plurality of support members 20, which support slide arms 30 having grippers 31 for grasping the end parts of the sheetlike article 1 provided to its inside end so as to freely slide the same in the TD direction of the sheetlike article 1, are arranged side by side so as to be capable of traveling on the traveling rails in the MD direction of the sheetlike article 1. An MD variable means, which varies the interval in the MD direction of the support members 20 to vary the interval in the MD direction of the slide arms 30 and stretches the sheetlike article 1 of which the end parts are grasped by the grippers 31 in the MD direction, and a TD variable means for moving the slide arms 30 in the TD direction to stretch the sheetlike article 1 of which the end parts are grasped by the grippers in the TD direction are provided so as to be variably controlled mutually independently.
