PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress overhead of information for specifying a rotation position of a magnetic disk medium and to shorten a rotation position detecting time. SOLUTION: A track is sectioned to blocks consisting of a plurality of continuous sectors. A position information bit string including a block number is arranged scatteringly one by one for each sector of each block as information indicating the rotation position. The position information bit column consists of combination of a position code including a block number and a discrimination code discriminating a start position of the position code. The block consists of 12 sectors, when the block number is made "b<SB>0</SB>b<SB>1</SB>b<SB>2</SB>b<SB>3</SB>b<SB>4</SB>b<SB>5</SB>", the discrimination code can be made "00001", the position information bit string is made "0000b<SB>0</SB>b<SB>1</SB>b<SB>2</SB>b<SB>3</SB>b<SB>4</SB>b<SB>5</SB>" as a whole.
