1,149,600. Removing corks. WERNER STREICHER, [trading as METALLINDUSTRIE DENKINGEN GEBR. STREICHER]. 23 May, 1967 [28 June, 1966], No. 24001/67. Heading B8T. A pneumatic cork extractor comprises a hollow cylinder 1, closed at one end 2, and a piston 6 disposed on a hollow pistonrod 7 which projects from the open end of the cylinder 1 and may be guided by a ring 29. The rod 7 contains a non-return valve 25 mounted on springs 26, and also carries a hollow needle 19 which is to be pushed through the cork. The piston 6 comprises a disc valve 15 having a central opening which provides radial and axial clearance to a neck 14 projecting through the opening. The neck 14 has a collar 13, and when the piston 6 is moved towards the open end of the cylinder 1, the disc valve 15 is held at a distance from the collar 13 by projections 17 defining radial air ducts. When the piston 6 is moved in the opposite direction, the disc valve 15 rests sealingly against a collar 11 forming the end face of the piston 6. In a modification, the projections 17 may be individual raised spots, and the disc valve 15 may have concentric axial projections 16 to form a seal against the collar 11. The piston 6 has a felt ring 12 for the purpose of lubrication of the cylinder wall. In another modification, the hollow needle 19 may be attached to the pistonrod 7 by a screw connection 20, and the needle 19 may also have a preferred fracturing point. The outer end of the rod 7 may carry a support disc 33, and this in turn may have a projection 35 allowing a protective sleeve 36 to be fitted. |
