STORAGE-STABLE PARTIALLY NEUTRALIZED ACID COMPOSITIONS AND USE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for preparing storage-stable partially neutralized acid compositions.

SOLUTION: The method of preparing a storage-stable partially neutralized acid composition comprising the steps of: mixing under substantially anhydrous conditions an orthophosphoric acid substantially free of combined water; a neutralizing source comprised of at least one of calcium carbonate, calcium hydroxide, or a calcium phosphate in an amount sufficient to neutralize from about 20 percent to about 90 percent of said orthophosphoric acid to obtain a substantially uniform mixture; whereby substantially all of said neutralizing source is reacted to form a storage stable partially neutralized acid composition.
