PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device for making correction processing executable, and for preventing the deterioration of a read image even when an inter-original paper interval between an original to be read and an original following this short. SOLUTION: This image reading device is provided with an ADF 100 for conveying an original, a scanner unit 209 for scanning the original, a CCD 208 for carrying out the photoelectric conversion of the reflected rays of light of the original and an in-paper interval correction processing part 1304. The in-paper interval correction processing part 1304 calculates a time between the original paper of an original to be conveyed and the next original at the time of reading an image in a reading mode selected from a plurality of reading modes(one side reading mode, normal both side reading mode, high speed both side reading mode), and divides light distribution fluctuation correction processing and dust correction processing into a plurality of processes in every reading mode based on the calculated inter-original paper time, and makes a plan to execute the processes, and sequentially executes the planned processes each time the original passes through the reading position.
