The inventive (F1) and (F2) encoding method consists in encoding an image (F2) (4) for providing encoded data to the base layer of an encoded data steam, in zooming said image (F2) (4) for obtaining a zoomed low-resolution image whose size is equal to the image (F1) size for a common video portion, in encoding the image (F1) for a common portion (6, 8) to the zoomed image (Fz) taking into account said zoomed image in the form of a prediction image for calculating residues, and for providing encoded data to the top layer of the encoded data stream and in encoding the (F1) image for an uncommon portion to the zoomed image (Fz) (7, 8) for providing complementary data to the top layer of the encoded data stream.
