PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover for an image reader and the image reader equipped therewith, wherein a correction is unwanted after a copy is read, and also, even a copy having an end which is easily curled up can be reliably read. SOLUTION: The image reader 10 comprises a cabinet 1 which has an upper face on which a transparent copy tray 3 composed of glass or the like is disposed, and comprises a light source, a scan part and a control part (not shown) internally as a device body, and the cover 2 for the image reader attached to the cabinet 1 so as to be opened and closed for covering the copy tray 3. The cover 2 for the image reader is formed with a same size as a copy reading face of the copy tray 3, and is attached to the cabinet 1 by a hinge 5 so as to be opened and closed. An adhesive sheet 4 is adhered to a face on a side of the copy tray 3 of the cover 2 for the image reader, and a copy 6 is arranged on this adhesive sheet 4 for fixation, thereby reading the copy 6 at a correct position and direction.
