ESTER FLUIDS HAVING HIGH TEMPERATURE STABILITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant base material or additive which promotes to produce and hold the long-lasting films of lubricants even under severe conditions such as high temperatures and high pressures. SOLUTION: The carbonyl compound ester-containing reaction products (preferably an acyl halide-thiodiphenol reaction product) have antioxidizing properties at high temperatures. The reaction products are useful as synthetic lubricant base fluids or as antioxidizing additives, when used in small amounts of 0.01 to 10 wt.% in mineral oils or hydrocracked oil lubricant base oils.
