<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sever device for notifying the cause of a failure in P2P connection to a portable terminal user away from his house, and to provide a portable terminal, an electric appliance, a communication system, a communication method and a program. <P>SOLUTION: An electric appliance 101, a server device 103 and a portable terminal 105 each detects a failure in preparation processing of P2P connection between the electric appliance 101 and the portable terminal 105. When the electric appliance 101 detects a failure, the electric appliance 101 notifies it to the portable terminal 105 through the server device 103.
