PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery housing device not only capable of improving operability but also having high flexibility of the arrangement of a battery lid, and allowing a design-oriented layout. SOLUTION: The battery lid 6 has at least a lid principal surface 6a of a surface in a rotating direction by a rotation spindle 7, and a lid side face 6b perpendicular to the rotation spindle 7, and is so structured that the lid principal surface 6a in closing the lid becomes a surface perpendicular to the axial direction of a battery B housed in a battery housing chamber 5. The battery lid 6 is provided with: a fitting part 12 formed inside the lid principal surface 6a and slidably fitted to a battery terminal 9; a lock piece 10 locked to an engagement part 11 formed on an apparatus body; and a projecting part 8 formed on the lid side face 6b and used as a catch of a finger in opening/closing the battery lid. The battery lid 6 can be opened from a closed state by carrying out a rotating operation subsequently to a sliding operation by the catch of a finger A to the projecting part 8.
