PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selectively separating and recovering hydrogen gas using a chemical reaction by a simple and cheap method from a hydrogen-containing mixed gas. SOLUTION: The method uses a hydrogenation reactor and a dehydrogenation reactor that are connected in series, wherein in the hydrogenation reactor a mixed gas that contains a hydrogen gas containing a heteroatom compound (such as H<SB>2</SB>S, CO, H<SB>2</SB>O, NH<SB>3</SB>, HCN or the like) and naphthalene are reacted in the presence of a catalyst and stored to produce tetralin by selectively reacting hydrogen in the mixed gas with naphthalene, and then in the dehydrogenation reactor in which the tetralin is supplied therefrom a dehydrogenation reaction is conducted to obtain a hydrogen gas.
