<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device capable of protecting the semiconductor laser of an optical pickup from electric shocks without setting up a large pickup window. <P>SOLUTION: A pickup assembly 4 and a circuit board 6 are arranged in a casing 1, and the pickup assembly 4 includes a pickup module having an optical pickup mounted thereon. The pickup module is provided with a first shortcircuit part for shortcircuiting a semiconductor laser constituting the optical pickup. A relay board 5 is disposed between the pickup module and the circuit board 6. The relay board 5 is provided with a second shortcircuit part 52 for shortcircuiting the semiconductor laser.
