PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper physical distribution system capable of reducing misdelivery or remaining of paper by allowing a centralized recognition device constituted by a network to recognize delivery section information of the paper. SOLUTION: In the physical distribution system for the paper, paper sorters 1A to 1Z are connected to a recognition device 2 with communication lines. When sorting is performed at the paper sorter 1A (A station), for example, a read image of the read paper is sent to the recognition device 2. The recognition device 2 recognizes the delivery section information of the received read image, the recognition result is stored in a temporary file and sent to the A station. Next, when delivery sorting is performed at the paper sorter 1B (B station), the read image is sent to the recognition device 2. The recognition device 2 compares the delivery section information of the received read image with the delivery section information stored in the temporary file, and determines whether the paper is under the jurisdiction of the B station or not.
