PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To intensify the strength at an end of an opening in the circumferential direction of an outer peripheral wall part while reducing the thickness of the outer peripheral wall part constituting an outer rotating hook of a horizontal rotary hook. SOLUTION: The horizontal rotary hook comprises a synthetic resin inner rotating hook and the synthetic resin outer rotating hook 3 to be rotated/driven in a prescribed direction of rotation. The horizontal rotary hook also has a hook member 5, which comprises a hook peripheral wall part and a hook body part 33 and is detachably attached as a separate independent component to the outer rotating hook 3. An enlarged opening part is formed in the outer peripheral wall part 20 of the outer rotating hook 3 to be continued to a needle thread passing opening 22A for attaching the hook member 5. Tapered reinforcing ribs 24 and 25 nearly in the shape of right-angled triangles close to the outer peripheral wall part are disposed on the inner side of the outer peripheral wall part 20 near a front side end 20A of the enlarged opening and near a rear side end 20B of the needle thread passing opening 22A in the outer peripheral wall part 20 respectively.
