<p>Shaping using laser beams (2) is known and has previously incorporated use of a mask with beam shaping aperture. Such apertures mean that parts of the beam (2) are shaded and therefore there is power loss with respect to shaping function. By use of an optical pathway which generates a projected shaping image the whole of the beam power is utilised for shaping.</p> |
