1,249,553. Transformers. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 13 Jan., 1969 [15 Jan., 1968], No. 1926/69. Addition to 1,242,080. Heading H1T. [Also in Divisions H3-H5] The windings of e.g. a pulse transformer comprise e.g. tin-silver alloy die cast into grooves 18, 20x and (20y) (Figs 3 and 8, not shown) in moulded plastics housing 14 encapsulating the annular core and into holes 16 through the housing to complete the winding paths, the number of turns of a winding being preselectable during manufacturing according to which of further sets of grooves 22a, 22b are chosen to provide conductive paths between the windings and common grooves 24a, 24b communicating with terminals 26a, 26b. The location of long pins in the mould determines where cylindrical recesses 23a, 23b, which would otherwise be filled with plastic, are formed and these recesses are filled with metal during die-casting to provide a continuous conductive path. Terminal connections to the other end of the, as shown, bifilar windings are on the opposite side of the body (Figs 3, 8, not shown). Housing 14 may have feet 14y for stand-off from a printed circuit board. Interrupted windings may be obtained by omitting from the mould selected pins which provide holes 16. |
