<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of eliminating image noise, by which the way the degree of image noise is removed is the same, regardless of the output size, when an output medium is observed. <P>SOLUTION: The method of eliminating image noise consists of eliminating image noise, such as "block noise" produced at decoding of an image compressed and coded by block, and mosquito noise by filter processing when a smoothing filter is used. The degree of image noise elimination in filter processing is varied continuously or in stepwise manner, according to the output size or the magnification factor of the image so that the larger the output size or the magnification factor of the image is, the stronger the degree of image noise elimination becomes in filter processing, when the image is outputted to an output medium, such as a photographic paper and a printer sheet. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
