PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a curing agent for an epoxy resin, which is a solid at a room temperature, starts curing at a low temperature and yet has excellent storage stability and heat resistance and excellent physical properties (heat resistance and rigidity) of cured product. SOLUTION: The curing agent for an epoxy resin comprises an aromatic hydroxy amine derivative represented by general formula (I) (R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each independently a hydrogen atom or a 1-20C alkyl group; A is a direct bond and O, NH, SO<SB>2</SB>, CH<SB>2</SB>or C(CH<SB>3</SB>)<SB>2</SB>; an OH group and an NH<SB>2</SB>group in one ring exist at adjacent positions).
