PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that an imaging apparatus is powered off although the battery of the imaging apparatus has a voltage at which communication processing is possible as the voltage drops below a value needed for normal operation. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus has, as thresholds for comparison with battery check result data, an external arithmetic unit communication inhibition level at which communication with at least an external arithmetic unit is inhibited and an operation inhibition level for the imaging apparatus at which an operation of the imaging apparatus such as a normal photographing operation is inhibited, wherein the external arithmetic unit communication inhibition level is set lower than the operation inhibition level of the imaging apparatus.
