The method involves adding a gas to water, and arising an increased abrasion during impinging of a water jet (3) on a work piece (4) through a gas vesicle, where the gas contains carbon dioxide (CO2). The gas is added to the water downstream by a high-pressure pump (5) for producing pressure of the water jet according to the principle of a water-jet pump. The water jet does not contain abrasion additive. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing a method for water-jet machining a work piece.
