PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding door latch device and a cabinet equipped therewith capable of improving operability of a knob for unlocking in the case the sliding door is opened and preventing the appearance from being impaired with variations in a position of a member by a fully closed state and an opened state of the sliding door. SOLUTION: In order to pivot a lock plate 16 capable of being engaged with a notch section 21 made in a rail 13 for holding the sliding door in a fully closed position on an unlocking position, an operating plate 18 connected to the lock plate extends a guide groove 41 in the direction of the movement of the sliding door to the back of the operation plate so that it can generally make the straight-line motion in the direction of the movement of the sliding door and, at the same time, a projected stripe 42 fitting to the guide groove is provided in the Hakama section 4.
