SLIDING MEMBER WITH EXCELLENT ABRASION RESISTANCE IN WET ENVIRONMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member which exerts an excellent abrasion resistance in a wet environment by combining the sliding members made to be operated in the wet environment.

SOLUTION: There is provided the sliding member with a feature that it is formed with an amorphous carbon film of 7 to 25 GPa in hardness and of 0.1 to 0.7μm in thickness at least one side sliding surface in a sliding portion of the sliding member. In the sliding member, in order to exert more excellent abrasion resistance, as an effective hydrogenated amorphous carbon film, it is preferable to adopt a substance formed with the hydrogenated amorphous carbon film containing hydrogen of 5 to 40 atom.%.
