FLOW CONTROL SYSTEM FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flow control system controlling a variable displacement pump provided with a metering valve in fluid communication with the pump for metering an output of the pump.

SOLUTION: This system is a highly stable flow rate control system controlling the variable displacement pump. A regulating valve 36 receives part of the output of the pump 12 as a bypass flow as a first pressure wherein an output of the regulating valve 36 is at an interim pressure. The interim pressure is roughly equal to an average of the first pressure and a low reference pressure. An actuator 20 sets a displacement of the pump 12 by acting on a piston 18 connected to a cam ring 16 of the pump 12. The actuator 20 receives the interim pressure to determine the output of the variable displacement pump 12.
