PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus provided with a means for recording a pattern for discriminating a source of a recording, and also to provide an image reading apparatus. SOLUTION: A flowchart for explaining processing procedures in the case of copying an original by using the image reading apparatus includes steps of: (S14) judging whether a prescribed pattern is detected from a read image when a start of the reading of the original is instructed (S11) and the reading of the original is finished (YES in S13); (S15) composing the prescribed pattern with image data acquired by an image read section so as to attach the prescribed pattern to each of four corners of paper when it is discriminated that no prescribed pattern is detected (NO in S14); and (S16) executing print processing.
